Festival of Christmas Trees December 9th to 11th 2011
This was by far the biggest event we have undertaken with seventy sponsored Christmas Trees forming the Festival. At least one thousand five hundred people visited the Church during the three days, and on the Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday afternoons there was live entertainment. This year saw two new elements to the Festival – the Preview and Breakfast for members of the Chamber of Commerce (which was held at 8.00am on the Friday), and four of Uckfield’s Most Talented young people contributing to the live entertainment. Two of those young people, Caroline and Andy, also took part in the Christmas Tree Service on Sunday to mark the end of the Festival. Both of these new elements were a tremendous success. Those people who came to that concluding Service were also witness to seeing Mike Ziolek and Mike Skinner from Uckfield FM performing in a sketch titled ‘Ravioli’s Nativity’.
In our opening address we told people to be prepared to be amazed by the creativity, and ingenuity, of those decorating the trees, not to miss the Ark of the Covenant (it was last seen in the film ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’) – we kept to our word.
